When a Mountain Collapses
Gospel Response to a Tragedy in India
Asia Harvest is thankful to support evangelists who are reaching over more than 1,000 unreached people groups in many of the remotest parts of Asia. In August, a tragedy occurred in Uttarakhand, north India, when days of heavy rain caused part of a mountain to collapse, creating a massive landslide.
Here is a short video of the actual event. Our text continues below the video link as we share how our coworkers in that town responded to the disaster.
Thanks to your generous support for the Persecution & Relief Fund, Asia Harvest was able to respond quickly to this need. For weeks our partners in Uttarakhand have worked tirelessly to help people, climbing over rubble to reach people due to roads and bridges being wiped out. Initially they pulled many dead bodies out of the mud, and then many traumatized survivors were given food, water, medicine and shelter.
In an area where just a fraction of one percent of people are Christians, they have shared the love of Jesus Christ through their words and deeds. Their prayer request has been: “Ask God to help us reach unreached people groups in the Himalayas which we would never have been able to access if not for this opportunity.”
Please pray for these disciples of Christ and for the Holy Spirit to open the hearts of many lost people. If you would like to give to this need and others like it, we invite you to do so through our Persecution & Relief Fund, Asia. 100 percent of funds received for this project go directly to the field.

Here is the devastating aftermath that the cloudburst flooding created, covering entire areas with mud and debris. Our field partners took these photos.

Asia Harvest has helped supply our ministry partners with the supplies they needed to deliver immediate need to those suffering in the area. They were some of the first groups to provide aid, along with the rescuing message of Jesus.
