RESPONDING TO THE EMERGENCY IN MYANMAR

DONATE TO OUR RELIEF FUND

We are thankful for the many people who have been praying for the people groups of Myanmar as we work through our Operation Myanmar profiles. The recent massive 7.7 earthquake has added untold misery to the people of Myanmar.

Estimates are that tens of thousands of people have been killed and up to 3 million have been displaced after their homes were destroyed. The epicenter of the quake was in the Sagaing Region next to Chin State, where many of our prayer requests for Chin and Tangshang tribes have been targeted in recent months.

Hundreds of thousands of strong Christians live in these regions.

In response, our co-workers in Myanmar have launched plans to help affected people. An initial $10,000 has been sent to provide basic survival kits to the traumatized people including food, water, shelter, and medicine.

One of our partner ministries wrote:

“Our staff have taken the Gospel outside—meeting in villages, under trees, and in open spaces to share the hope of Christ (see our photo below). In this desperate time, more and more people are joining the gatherings, searching for hope and stability. The hunger for truth is growing, and God continues to move in this nation.”

Please pray for the people of Myanmar, and if you would like to donate to help the earthquake relief work, please do so by giving with a card to the “Persecution & Relief Fund” on our secure website, or by sending a check to one of the Asia Harvest addresses listed at the bottom of this email.

We guarantee that 100 percent of the funds received will go to help people in the affected areas. Nothing will be deducted for admin or any other expense.

May The Lord Jesus Christ be glorified among all 240 people groups of Myanmar!

On August 26th, a catastrophic debris flow and flood, triggered by a glacial collapse, struck Nepal near the Chinese border. This torrent traveled nearly 100 km (62 miles), destroying everything and everyone in its path. The scale of this devastation is unprecedented. Although the number of fatalities is uncertain right now, it has undoubtedly killed many thousands of people. One ministry we support sent a reassuring report that they were able to account for all their ministers living within the disaster zone. Tragically, however, entire house church fellowships perished in the flood, along with many of their family members.
