We want to let you know of an opportunity to help with an urgent need. While on the other side of the Himalayas, people in China are crying out for a drop of rain as they experience the most severe drought in generations, you may have seen on the news that Pakistan is experiencing massive, unprecedented flooding. About one-third of the entire large country is underwater. Thousands of people have drowned, and a staggering 30 million people have no home to return to. Not only are there immediate needs to keep people alive, but the long-term prospects are grim, as the best crop-producing land in the country has been completely wiped out, is likely to lead to mass starvation.

That’s the bad news, but the good news is that while we can’t help millions of people, for years we have been working closely with Pakistani church leaders in the worst-affected areas. They have already launched into action to help the most vulnerable, starting with 400 families who have lost everything.

We are providing funds for food, water, blankets, and tents and tarps for these initial 400 families. The average cost is $51 per family. We expect the need to grow rapidly.

Please pray for the people of Pakistan―where 476 of the country’s 479 people groups are considered “unreached”. Pray the Living God will use this disaster for His glory, and many desperate families will meet Jesus Christ as Lord.
