God’s Word for the Kharam People

Many mission organizations try to reach mega people groups with populations in the millions of people, but here at Asia Harvest we have always viewed small tribes as our priority, because others are not usually interested in helping these neglected peoples. For decades we have traveled throughout the remote mountains of Asia, looking for precious unreached people groups-irrespective of size-that we can impact for the Lord Jesus Christ.

This month we would like to share a short video with you of one such tribe - the Kharam. Numbering just 2,000 people, this tiny group is locked away in the mountains of northeast India, with few outsiders aware of their existence.

Through our Asian Bible Fund, Asia Harvest recently partnered with Word for the World to help bring the first ever Scriptures to the Kharam people. Now the translation of the Kharam New Testament is underway, and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Kharam happens to be the 100th different Asian language we have provided God's Word in since our ministry began. Hallelujah!

We praise God that there are now many Christians among the Kharam people, and it has been our privilege to help bring God's Word to them. One day soon you will meet Kharam people around the throne of Jesus, part of "a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb" (Revelation 7:9).

In the coming months we expect to help print God's Word in about 20 more languages, many of which have never had any Scripture published in their history. If you would like to support these efforts, please consider partnering with us through our Asian Bible Fund.

Until all have heard of Jesus,
The team at Asia Harvest

On August 26th, a catastrophic debris flow and flood, triggered by a glacial collapse, struck Nepal near the Chinese border. This torrent traveled nearly 100 km (62 miles), destroying everything and everyone in its path. The scale of this devastation is unprecedented. Although the number of fatalities is uncertain right now, it has undoubtedly killed many thousands of people. One ministry we support sent a reassuring report that they were able to account for all their ministers living within the disaster zone. Tragically, however, entire house church fellowships perished in the flood, along with many of their family members.
